We are pleased to offer three types of eye screenings here at Main Street Eye. They are based on being proactive about the health of your eyes, which are vulnerable to the most common ocular diseases, most of which do not reveal any clear symptoms in their early stages.
Our eye screening in Royal Oak is not the same a comprehensive eye exam, though screenings can be part of them. For various reasons, you may not need to get a complete eye exam right now, but you might want to be screened for glaucoma or macular degeneration, which are both serious conditions that can lead to your eyes sustaining physical damage and/or to severe loss of vision. Glaucoma can even cause blindness at its worst. Since you cannot depend on signs to alert you to the presence of glaucoma or macular degeneration, you can come in for our eye screening in Royal Oak. Our eye doctor uses advanced equipment for diagnostic purposes, and you can be confident that any indications of glaucoma or macular degeneration are going to be detected. It is important to keep in mind that prompt detection is closely linked with the best outcomes when it comes to treatment and management. Macular degeneration is a concern from age 40 and up, and becomes particularly alarming after age 60. It causes loss of central vision, though not total vision loss. Glaucoma is marked by an unsafe increase in eye pressure from an imbalance between eye fluid created and eye fluid drained.
The goal of our eye screening in Royal Oak is to reach a conclusive diagnosis, evaluate the seriousness of your condition, and take immediate action to remedy it to the greatest extent possible. All you need do is contact our office so that we can schedule you for a convenient time to come in.
